New workplace guidance from Welsh Government on Coronavirus Regulations

The Welsh Government has chosen to impose a legal requirement on all workplaces that remain open in Wales to ensure that everything reasonable is done to minimise the transmission of coronavirus (Covid-19).

Through guidance issued this morning the Welsh Government aims to employers in understanding what kind of ‘reasonable measures’ they can take to ensure that persons on their premises stay 2 metres apart and what to do if it is not possible to maintain such a distance in certain circumstances.

Although the new law does not equate to a total ban on people working closer than 2 metres together, businesses must be seen to have taken all reasonable measures to ensure that a distance of 2 metres is maintained between people on their premises. Police and local councils can enforce these rules by issuing fines for non-compliance.
