James Moss
Managing Partner

James is the founder and Managing Partner of Slate Legal and has well over 20 years’ experience as an employment lawyer.

James studied law at King’s College London (LLB) and at the Sorbonne in Paris (Maîtrise) before embarking on a training contract at international law firm, Eversheds back in 1998.  James has since worked for leading employment law firms Capital Law and TLT and was Partner and Head of Employment at Acuity Legal in Cardiff for several years before deciding to launch his own specialist employment practice, Slate Legal.

James has extensive experience of Employment Tribunal litigation and a high success rate. He has successfully acted for hundreds of employers and employees across England and Wales, covering a wide range of employment issues and is consistently recommended for employment law in Wales and recognised as a leading individual in employment law in Wales in the Legal 500 legal directory of leading UK law firms:

James is a member of the Employment Lawyers’ Association, the Law Society and Monmouthshire Law Society.  He is also a Member of Cardiff Employment Tribunal User Group and is an Associate of King’s College London.

Outside of work, James enjoys being dad to his 3 teenage sons, windsurfing at Llandegfedd Reservoir and sailing in Cardiff Bay/Bristol Channel. Originally a pianist, he is now the drummer of local band, Legal High NP10. He loves holidaying in Pembrokeshire and France.
